WIP & Accruals Review Process(New)
WIP & Accruals Review Process
This page outlines a practical, structured approach to reviewing WIP & Accruals in JobBag.
By reviewing jobs by Status, you can deal with jobs of a similar nature as a group, making the process faster, clearer, and more consistent.
Overview of the Review Process
The recommended review order is:
1. Review Live Jobs
(Job Status: Proposed, Live, On Hold)
For live jobs, review the following:
- Costs incurred on the job
- Amounts billed to the client
- Whether any cost accruals are required for costs not yet received
Key question:
👉 Are there costs missing that should be accrued to match the billings?
2. Review Complete Jobs
(Job Status: Complete)
For completed jobs, review:
- Outstanding purchase orders
- Whether all expected supplier invoices have been received
If expected costs are still outstanding:
- Accrue the costs so profit is not overstated
- Normally, these costs should be supported by purchase orders
- If no purchase order exists, you can use Implied Costs to accrue the expected costs
Key question:
👉 Are all costs that relate to the job accounted for?
3. Review Dead and Cancelled Jobs
(Job Status: Dead and Cancelled)
For dead or cancelled jobs:
- Review the final result on each job
- Investigate any balances or results that appear unusual or material
These jobs should generally have no WIP or accrual balances remaining.
Important Note – First-Time WIP & Accruals
When WIP & Accruals is run for the first time for a new client:
- Dead jobs with no transactions will not impact WIP & Accruals
- These jobs will not appear for review or confirmation

Reviewing Write-Ons and Write-Offs

Write-on
The amount by which client billings exceed the value generated on the job.

Large or unusual write-on or write-off amounts should be reviewed and discussed with the Account Manager where appropriate.
