How to enter a Public Holiday
Use this process to add public holiday events to the JobBag calendar so they are reflected correctly in payroll and employee records.
How to access Public Holidays
You can access and create an Event using either a web browser or via the desktop application.
🌐 Web Browser
Open your preferred browser
Enter or paste your database URL (e.g.):
https://yourdatabasename.myjobbag.com.au
At the login screen, enter:
- Username
- Password
- Navigate to:
The side bar > Task and Timesheets > Create Button (top left) > Public Holiday
💻 Desktop
If you’re using the desktop version of JobBag:
- Navigate to:
JobBag menu > Active Diary (JBX) > Create Button (Top Left) > Select Public Holiday
- Navigate to:
JobBag menu > Active Diary > Right click > Create Event Entry > Public Holiday
Note: Diary and Events Privilege: Create and modify privilege needs to be switch on.
Creating Public Holiday
You can create a Public Holiday in JBX from the Calendar View or Task List View
1. Using the Create Button
- Click Create Button > Select Public Holiday
- Fill in the event details and click Save
Creating Public Holiday (Desktop)
1. Open the Active Diary
Navigate to: JobBag > Active Diary
2. Create Event Entry
Right-click on the day of the public holiday in the diary, then select: Create Event Entry
Two Ways to Manage Public Holidays
✅ Option 1: Enter Before Each Pay Period
- Create the public holiday before the relevant pay period
- Ensure all new starters are added to the Address Book beforehand
✅ Option 2: Enter for the Full Year (with Deferred Approval)
Enter all holidays for the year in advance
Do not tick “Leave is Approved” until the pay period starts
At the start of the pay period:
- Edit the event
- Add new employees (who were added to JobBag since the original event)
- Remove resigned staff
