Creating a Timesheet in JobBag

In JobBag, you can create timesheets from various locations, using multiple methods—whether you're on the Desktop Application or Web Browser (JBX). Each option offers flexibility depending on how you work and whether you're logging time with or without a task.


How to Access Timesheets

Timesheets can be logged through either the Desktop application or a Web Browser, making it convenient to access no matter how you use JobBag.


💻 Desktop Application – 4 Ways to Create Timesheets


Option 1. Active Diary

Navigate to: JobBag menu > Active Diary

  • Right-click in the calendar to

➤ Create a timesheet without a task

➤ Create a timesheet with a task

Other methods in active diary include...

  • Right-click on a task in the task list to create a timesheet
  • Grab & Drop a task into the calendar
  • Drag in the calendar from a start time to an end time to record hours

Option 2: Active Diary (JBX)

Navigate to: JobBag menu > Active Diary (JBX)

Options available:

➤ Use the Create button to make a timesheet (Calendar or List view)

➤ Click the 🕒 Timesheet icon next to a task to log time directly against it

  • Found throughout the active diary (JBX) in areas like:
    • Calendar view
    • Task Lists view
    • My Active Tasks
    • My Past Tasks
    • Click the icon to start a timesheet against a specific task

Option 3 From the Job Window

  • Right-click on a job and choose to create a timesheet
  • This allows you to log time directly to the job (with or without a task)

Option 4: Timesheet Tab on the job

  • Click on Timesheet tab
  • Select new

Option 5: Timesheets by hour

  • Navigate: Costings menu > Timesheets by the hour


🌐 Web Browser

Open your preferred browser

  • Enter or paste your database URL (e.g.):

    https://yourdatabasename.myjobbag.com.au

    At the login screen, enter:

    • Username
    • Password

Option 1: Create Button (Calendar or List View)

  • Navigate to the Create button (top left corner)
  • Select Timesheet
  • Log time with or without a task

Option 2: Timesheet Icon (🕒)

Found throughout JBX in areas like:

  • Dashboard
  • Calendar
  • Task Lists
  • My Active Tasks
  • My Past Tasks
  • Click the icon to start a timesheet against a specific task



🔍 Search Options When Creating a Timesheet

When entering a job in the Job field of a timesheet, you can search using any of the following:

  • Full Job Number – e.g. CLTD12563
  • Client Prefix only – e.g. CLTD
  • Job Numbers Only – e.g. 12563
  • Job Description – e.g. Brand design

This flexible search helps you find the right job quickly, even if you only know part of the job details.


Timesheet FAQ


Can I change my timesheet?

Yes. As long as you have the rights, you can edit or delete it using the ellipsis (⋯) menu.


Can I clone or duplicate an existing timesheet?

Yes. As long as you have the rights, you can edit or delete it using the ellipsis (⋯) menu.


Can I Autotime?

Yes. You can "Start Timer" once you click on the timesheet icon


I don’t have any tasks assigned; can I still do a timesheet?

Yes. Use the Create > Timesheet option and log time directly to a job or client without a task.


How do I choose the right Kind for my timesheet?

  • The Kind field classifies your time (e.g., Billable, Internal, Leave)

    Choose based on what you were working on:

    • Billable = Client/project work
    • Non-Billable = Admin, meetings, internal training

If unsure, check with your manager or HR.


How can I avoid someone logging time to closed projects?

  • Admins should ensure:
    • Jobs are marked as completed or dead
    • Ensure that the privilege is ticked which prevents users from logging time on a complete or dead job
  • Users will receive a warning or be blocked from logging time on closed jobs

Can I fill in a timesheet for someone else?

Only users with the appropriate permissions (e.g., managers or admins) can create or edit timesheets for others.
